Proud owner of an SF novel ...

That would be me. I was thinking I needed an explicit reversion letter from Bantam, but apparently the letter I signed when I sent the check actually was the reversion letter.

I own A.I. War again. :-)

A chunk of the book will be posted this weekend.

Fantastic! Must be quite a relief - free at last :)

Awesome.
btw, I just did a search for you on Facebook and you (only) come up once on one member's fave book list.
If you're not familiar with Facebook people can create pages for themselves as artists or for particular projects (AI War, perhaps?). Facebook members can also become "Fans" of artists/projects/politicians/wtf. It increasingly is a medium for older "plugged-in profesionals," (besides all the kids, of course).
Might be fun to see a "community" at one click for those who eagerly await AI War.
Just a thought....

Dan,

Do you have a PayPal account, suggested charitable donation, etc, etc, in which we could provide you a monetary thanks for bring us AI War?

I've been reading your stories for years, my wife gives me a hard time about the fact that I keep a minimum inventory of 5 copies of each of your books on hand so that I can give them out to friends without losing my own copies.

I feel that your work, your dedication to your fans, and all that good stuff.....says something.

I'm in $100 for AI War....to you, a charitable donation, or the "Beat the Lakers fund", whichever you wish.

Best,
McKee

Congratulations! Great news. :-)

PS: I just created a fan page on facebook for everyone's favorite sci fi author (you). I took the liberty of pulling your picture from this blog, as well as the favorite books and musical artists you have posted here on your profile to include there. If you would prefer that I pull any or all of that down (including the page itself), I'm happy to do so!

Thanks for the suggestion Mark. :-)

Deadford, fine by me.

I've got a 3-day weekend with nowhere to go -- I'm going to play basketball with my sons and work on business I've been neglecting. Almost all the new text is ready to go -- "Linux is fun (tm)" but OpenOffice just doesn't do some of the things MS Word does, and recasting all that text has been a pain. But it's pretty much done, and it generates rtf & pdf files that I'm pleased with.

A paypal donate button will be up this weekend. I've got the code snippet for the button.

Deadford, I'm ok with whatever. What's the url? I'm not facebook literate and wouldn't know how to find that page.

Deadford said...

Haha, I didn't realize I was posting as "Deadford". It's actually Bradford. In any case, the url is:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Daniel-Keys-Moran/18226545886

I can definitely pass the administrator rights to the page to you if you decide to sign up for facebook at some point. In the meantime, I'll of course make any changes you like to the little profile I've posted!

I went ahead and joined facebook. The page looks fine.

Mark Owen has a good thought about the Facebook community. He also motivated me to add authors to my favorite book list.

That said, I still do not show up on the search, but hey, I'm trying.

Outstanding! Congratulations!

Do you have any thoughts on printing hardcopies of the book at some point, with either standard printing methods or print-on-demand services?

If not, would you like a printed copy of AI War? I plan on getting it printed out in book form, myself. (Much better for reading during my morning carpool.) Printing up a second copy would be simple, certainly. And I figure you should have hardcopy of the book.

Fantastic news! I look forward to reading this. I also look forward to somehow paying you something for the privilege! Thanks!

About damned time.

DId I say that before? If not, I should have.

I'd like a dead tree version too .. print on demand is fine though. The sort of places I like to sit and read are just not PC friendly. 8>.

Good, good, GOOD news!

Thank you so much for letting us know. :)

Thanks be to all the Zaradan Gods (esp. Trent). I do hope we can eventually purchase it in a nice (cf. Quiet Vision) hardback, heck, even leather. As soon as my tech challenged self can get a contribution through paypal, it will be there. Any word, however faint, on Lord November? We can always hope! Paul

This is great news! When I was a kid, on school holidays I'd accompany my mum to a block of flats where she was the hairdresser once a week on a Thursday. I had the run of the place and I remember it being filled with a bunch of nice old ladies with blue hair who gave me more lollies than was probably good for me. I discovered a dog-eared copy of Emerald Eyes in the communal library and "borrowed it" always with the intention of returning it, which I haven't done to this day. I've been a fan ever since. Thanks for some great stories and please keep up the good work!

I first got on-line in 1993, a few weeks before The Last Dancer was published. The first e-list I found was the old Continuing Time mailing list, and that's where I first heard about that book's publication, and also about the (allegedly) soon to be published AI War. It's been almost 15 years, and I'm very pleased that soon I will actually see this novel. Congratulations on getting it back.

Ditto. All of the above.

"A chunk of the book will be posted this weekend."

Hey, wait a minute. The weekend is over. I'm beginning to think that this supposed "AI War" doesn't exist . . .

How about you not pester the man about the free book you want to read. If he wants to enjoy the weekend with his family.

Daniel Keys Moran said...

Anon, appreciate you sticking up for me, but the life in which I had stress about AI War and scheduling is long, long past.

Allow me to amend the earlier post: "And by this weekend, I mean Tuesday morning."

Hey, Dan -- ltns!

Great news! Will definitely donate and read AI War when it's all up. (thoughts about making it available via Amazon/Kindle? Just because you're putting it up for freedoesn't mean you can't sell it too if people want to pay, after all, if it's worth the effort)

One quick point -- I think when talking about ralf.org, you said a half century and actually meant 15 (not fifty) years; I -know- I'm not that old.

After having had this blog up for a year or so, I've finally had a poster annoy me enough to delete his post. Hey, progress. :-)

Congratulations!

I'll second/third/fourth the requests for hardcopy if there's any reasonable way to make it work.
