Raising funds for fsand.com

Looking to raise money to hire a programmer for fsand.com. To this end, I am selling the original manuscript for "The Long Run." Opening bid is $1000.

Selling an original manuscript to fund a website where you're not even posting that much? Have you not learned to hold on to your assets?

One of the best sci-fi books written, and you're starting off bidding with $1000? If you're selling your assets, don't you realize your fans would spend a hell of a lot more than $1000 for such a treasure?

Jesus, Dan, you need a business manager.

For my favorite scifi novel ever? I can and will scrape up $2,500.

Ah, for a "buy it now" button...

You can't protect people from their own foolishness, though it's kind of you to try.

So when does this auction end, for all us potential snake artists?

too much for me already, but i wonder how much you could raise by simply selling ebook copies of AI War for $15 each?

Don't know, but it will be interesting to find out.

AI wars for $15? Has it been 20 years since I first read The Long Run? I'd pay $15 plus an extra donation.

Dan,
I'm not sure if you meant that comment re:AI War, but I would gladly pay $15 for it plus donate towards fsand. I'd probably pay $50 for it.

The A.I. War's going to be published in two halves at $7.50 each, $15.00 total. I have no idea when part 2 will be available; I have an idea about part 1, but given past results and predictions in this area, I'm damn well not saying until the day it ships.

Yup - if you restore the donate button, I'll gladly donate to help fsand.com. Unfortunately (and it's tearing me apart) I can't afford to bid on the manuscript :-(

@Spinal Cracker - Er, dude, we await the sequel to The Last Dancer, not The Long Run (22 yrs).

Personally, I await book 31, the Life and Times of Camber Tremodian.

Damn....
If I had the cashola, I'd be in the bidding as well.
Good luck with your venture, Dan!

And bidding is closed. Dave, congratulations.

While I'm curious about how The Story of Trent wraps up, I'm really more interested in more about House November. Not that I'm holding my breath, or anything, just hoping.

Dan, will that amount of money get the amount of programming done you need?

+1 on the idea of offering AI War. My credit card can't wait to be charged for it.

And, if you want to offer more of your truest fans a way to support fsand.com, you might consider offering an "Early Access" or "Elite" version of the ebook. Earlier ship dates? Special cover art? Bonus chapter sketches? You know there are those of us who will use any excuse to show how much we love and miss your writing.

I would happily pay $25 for each part, if that would help you in your endeavors. That's not too terribly expensive for normal bank accounts, but in aggregate would be a nice bump over the $15 total ebook revenue.

Of course, I recognize that it's easy for me to remotely add extra things to your TODO list. Peace. :-)
