My very sincere thank you. This is hands down one of the best things that could possibly happen. I just finished re-reading EE, TLR, TLD (after a 3 year hiatus) a week ago. To have AI released now, is just wonderful.
It's been a long wait, Dan, but I'm sure it will be well worth it!!! Thanks!
Comments on the purchasing process: I created an fsand.com account, ordered the book, it took me to my Paypal account where I completed my transaction, and then was left sitting there with a few links to select from, one of which was something like "return to danmoran909@yahoo.com" which seems just a LITTLE bogus, since I really expected to either automatically return to fsand so that I could download the book, or have a link to return there. But, on pure faith, I clicked to return to danmoranxxx@yahoo.com, and it did take me back to fsand and a "purchase completed" page, but then there was no link (at least, not obvious enough for me to see it) for taking me to where to download the book. I had to click on HOME, then on AIWAR again, in order to find the download link myself.
It worked, eventually, but it certainly could have been more user friendly.
Just feedback on the process, in case you care. :-)
Everett ... yes, one of the reasons I selected this store was that it's open source and can be altered. I do have a list of things I want changed, though. It could be friendlier.
King, being slashed is not my big worry. Getting fit and finish stuff right is worthwhile on its own account.
I want to pay you more money to get this, and AFiMBY, in solid form. So I can take them in the car with me without taking an EEEbook. So I can read them in bed. Just let us know when/where we can tell our bookstores to order them.
As the game Tempest 2000 occasionally used to say:
"YES! YES! YES!"
Purchased and downloaded, along with a copy of Terminal Freedom (which I am also enjoying greatly).
So nice to be able to give my money more or less direct to the author for a change! Don't know if this model would work for someone who isn't established, but it works for me here. :)
I am also interested in a dead-tree version if and when it shows up, but I am happy to have this now!
Ordered, downloaded, and going to my dropbox so that I can read it on my iPad. One suggestion: offer the files separately; the iPad can't/won't download the zip file.
Ditto on the dead-tree edition. For those of us without patience, you have a recommended POD publisher?
Again, MANY thanks. Fell in love with the book after seeing the Players Litany in a sig on the old Shadowrun mailing list, and have been buying and loaning (though I never _do_ get them back) copies over the years.
Have we broken the store already, or is it normal for "payment not verified" to hang around for a very long time, and taunt me with the inability to read a new DKM story? Oh woe is me!
Congrats in getting it out. A question regarding ordering: in my profile the system correctly identifies my locale as Sweden, but when I try to order the form is correctly populated with information from my profile address, except for the country drop-down, which only has a list of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Israel, New Zealand, United Kingdom and United States. What gives? Isn't it possible to order from European countries other than The United Kingdom?
In 89 I read a paper trade of TLR in the backseat of a Buick on a long trip from the Midwest to New Mexico. Yesterday I began reading The Big Boost on my iPad until I RAN IT OUT OF POWER and I had to sleep.
I was smiling as I drifted off, thinking about how much I had wanted a handheld and how awesome it was to have one. It struck me then, when will I get my neural net?
I know you've explored just about every possible self-publishing and ebook process, but with so many people (on the Continuing Time email list anyway) asking for a physical version, have you considered putting the POD version on Cafepress for purchase? I know their book process isn't perfect, but some folks seem to REALLY want a paper book.
Finished it in a few hours at work this morning, can't wait for the next installation.
The CT list is still alive - someone said they think you're no longer subscribed to it, though. Mailservs do seem a bit quaint in the days of blogs and other social media.

Yay.
Going to go read now.
kthxbai.
I am *so* psyched. I just got the week off...I know what I'll be doing now!
Thanks mate! Just bought it. Guess I'll be a bit tired tomorrow at work :). 9pm here at the moment.
Yeee Haw!
Excuse me...
Just going to lunch..with new DKM book!
So, I'm guessing now it's safe to ask the question "So, when is The AI War being released?"
Ordered.
Jesus and Harry, between this book and The Wise Man's Fear I don't know how I'm going to get any work done.
Needless to say, ordered and a camper is now happy.
Dan,
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.

Wow, excellent job of hiding the Download link.
This really needs to be improved before this book gets slashdotted and boingboinged.

Will do.

Where do we send typos?
Page 6 ("reading" PDF).
"Reverend Andy. I GOT SHOT." "I" is in the wrong font; should be Courier instead of the normal font.
After all the wait, it still feels like I'm right back with old friends. Thanks, Dan!
Typo: p.43(reading)
"by twelve-fan" --> "by a twelve-fan"

I sent an email to Dan's Yahoo email account with some of the errors and formatting glitches I found in the ePub version.
Andy, email me at danmoran909, on the yahoo domain, with the order # that failed.
whoohoo!!!!!!!
Hi Dan.

Shouldn't actually matter, since we're not actually shipping -- pick US and pay at the paypal screen.
I'll add Sweden to the dropdown -- just trying to keep from having that dropdown be 200 items long.
Dan,
I love you. Thank you.

I will come up with an answer sometime this week. Just a little patience, please.
I thought the Continuing Time mailing list had finally died. Is that thing still alive? I haven't gotten one of the emails in years.
The CT list is still alive - someone said they think you're no longer subscribed to it, though. Mailservs do seem a bit quaint in the days of blogs and other social media.
The CT List is my first line of information, actually.
Don't ever post, and don't always read everything. But when something important happens -- such as this -- it pushes straight to my Blackberry.
Which is why I was two hours late to work the other day. Heh.
Printed off my hard copy! Thanks Dan!
Anybody else having trouble getting it to work
on a android phone?
Works fine (great) on my kindle client. I haven't yet found a good epub reader for Android.
To solve the issue with the shipping address country dropdown, and not over-populate the dropdown, maybe just provide "other" as a dropdown option??
As an aside, being able to read The Big Boost makes me hopeful that some day I'll get to read the conclusion of the Chtorr series as well.
Quark -- good suggestion. Thanks.
This is great and sad too...
I need the physical copy, I do not E-read, I will still buy it just in case though, I've been waiting far too long...
